Sentinel-3 B will start drifting away from Sentinel-3A from Tuesday 16th of October until it reaches it’s final position on the 23rd of November 2018. This “drift phase” will be particularly interesting for the optical instrument as it will provide the opportunity to observe Earth scenes under slightly different viewing conditions. Of particular interest is the overlap between the oblique and nadir views of the SLSTR instrument on the two satellites.
